Closet Organization: How To Organize the Perfect Closet

You have unearthed the perfect apartment. Natural light is bellowing in through the windows, the kitchen shelves are roomy, and you can't wait to take a bubble bath in the garden tub. As you start unpacking your stuff into the closet, it becomes obvious you may have too many clothes. And shoes. Maybe your roomie won the better closet, your significant other actually has more to hang up, or the space is more restricted than you thought. Here are a few tips to make the most out of your closet space.
Hangers Trump Folded Piles!
Hangers are generally seen as a necessary evil. Acquiring hangers is a chore and not considered fun. However, the types of hangers you decide to use in your closet can increase or remove space. Using velvet hangers will increse so much room in your closet and they're not super expensive. Also, keep your hangers color-coordinated. It's all too easy to become distracted by clashing hangers.
Organize with a Plan!
After you've made the switch to your hanger of choice, organize your clothes by color then sleeve length. You know the drill - sorting through tops to find that perfect printed pant. Grouping your closet from summer to winter is easy, but make it fun! You're the one who has to live with it every morning.
Folding SOME of your Clothes is Still Okay!
Not every piece must be on a hanger. Your sweaters, shirts, and jeans can all be folded into drawers or shelves. Folding items will keep the closet volume workable. The contrast between hanging and folded clothes will ensure you see your clothes more easily.
If there is Space, Use it!
Take advantage of extra storage for the lower half of the closet. Store accessories or folded clothes in the cubbies and keep shoes underneath. If there is still space, the top area of the organizer take advantage of. There is no reason to leave empty space in a closet - only untried possibilities.
+1 for the Road...
If there is space in the bedroom, a rolling rack is the perfect plus-one to any wardrobe. Plan your outfits daily or weekly, use your go-to pieces as adornment, or simply use the said rolling rack as another storage option.
